Dear Friends,

i am not sure  i can ask this question here.

I just want to clear some doubts about share folder permission issue.

users are not able to save excel files even if they are given read and write permission.

if user are to be given modify permission in order to save.

why the read and write is not enough?

by giving modify permission, user can delete files.

is there any way to achive that users can edit but can not delete files.

Regards,

Thahir

Thahir,  Excel does not do in-place update, it saves as a new file then deletes the old. Excel users need Modify permissions.   From:- https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/271513/how-to-troubleshoot-errors-when-you-save-excel-workbooks Restricted permissionsWhen you save an Excel file, you must have the following permissions to the folder in which you are saving the file:·         Read permission·         Write permission·         Modify permission·         Delete permissionNote If you do not have these permissions, the Excel save process cannot be completed Dave Wade
