Hello everyone, we are lookig at upgrading W2K3 AD to W2K8R2 and I started reading the following pieces: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc731188(WS.10).aspx http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/upgrade-domain-controllers-to-win dows-server-2008-r2(WS.10).aspx What other reasings would you suggest? Given there are many bloggers in this list, of course any pointer to blog articles would be very welcome too! J Specifically I am looking at some information about common issues/mistakes you may encounter in an AD migration to W2k8R2. Thanks so much - Gabriele.

Hope this helps, from the notes.. Issue: NT4 crypto disabled by default. NT4 machines will not be able to create a secure channel to 2008r2 DC. Cannot form a trust relationship with an NT4 domain. KB 942564 Issue: DES encryption for KERB disabled. Any Kerberos clients (Non-windows) will fail. Joining Linux/Unix clients to domain, not samba KB 977321 Issue: Hard LDAP query limits Modify LDAP query policy KB 2009267 Issue: NSPI connections to 2008r2 are limited to 50. (Affects Blackberry) NSPI creates one connection per device it is servicing. So if servicing more than 50 devices, it will limit to that number. KB 949469 Issue: LMHASH is disabled by default. Clients may need LMHASH for passwords. Like Win95, 98 or third party KB 946405 Issue: RPC behavior changed Firewall rules. RPC dynamic port range changes to 49152, 65535. IANA Standards.
